Head & Neck

History

  • age (OA if >60)

  • MOI & forces involved

  • Impact trauma/ Loss of consciousness / HA, dizziness, nausea, disarthria, diplopia / numbness & tingling, weakness

  • Type of work, posture, sleeping posture

Observation

Ax

  • ROM

  • Functional ADLs

    • Breathing, swollowing, shoulder check, look up @ ceiling or down @floor

Neuro

  • Sensory: CN, Corneal reflex (V,VII), light touch face/arms, sharp/dull or pinwheel (face/arm), vibration (DIP, 3 digit)

  • Myotome: c-flex (C1,2), c-ext ( c2,3,XI), c-lat.flex(C3), shoulder elevation ( C4,XI), deltoid (C5,6, Axillary), brachioradialis ( C5,6, Radial), biceps ( C6,mc), triceps(C7, radial), wrist ext ( C6, radial), wrist flex ( C7, medial), finger flexion (C8, ulnar/median), interossei ( T1 ulnar)

  • DTR: biceps(C5), brachioradialis(C6), triceps (c7), patella(L4), hamstring (L5), achilles (S1)

  • Hoffman/dynamic Hoffman

  • Dynamometer (grip strength)

  • Girth measurement (arm, forearm)

  • Radial & brachial pulse, blanching, temperature

    • Alar lig stress test
